Suntour XCE any good?

It's rarely seen on Retrobike, but I do come across the odd bike with Suntour XCE components from time to time. Is it any good?

My assumption is it's rare AND not very good ...am I wrong?

It's a bit heavy, but the kit is well made - MKS pedals, Sugino cranks, Dia Compe brakes, typically well made freewheels.

It’s okay, I’ve got the group set on my Cindercone (see signature link)
The shifters are a bit clunky but being close to 30 years old it could be old rather time catching up on them.

I also have a full set up on my Raleigh tecnium heat. It all works perfectly well when set up correctly. Looks more than the money compared to shimano stuff of the same age from around 89-90

Your right it does have a certain “ je nai sai quoi”

For me it is a real alternative. I use to like in the 90's and I like nowadays, at least is diferent from shimano despite I love shimano 737 group set.
