I was at a school this week where they had a 90's Voodoo, I'd never thought Voodoo was anything to write home about (association with Halfords probably) but I was really impressed by this one.

It had a really nice lively ride and I noticed that at the base of both seat stays there was a capital R in a little shield. Does this mean Ritchey tubing

And does anybody have any voodoo catalogues or reviews they can share

Thanks, Matt

the 1996 Catalogue is here;

I own a 2010 Canzo, and yes it was from Halfords but for a penny under £1000 it was a very well specced Full Susser, still does me good when i want my modern fix ;)

Judging from the "Rs" you are noting, it was likely a Bizango. Those are Ritchey drops outs and some very nice Tange Superlight tubing. I have been looking for one in a 17 for a very long time. They also make a newer version of it in 853 but I like the original better myself....

Re:

My daily ride is a 853 Bizango with Breeze drop outs, removable 'V' mounts, it can feel a little harsh in the rear end some time but overall its a brilliant ride (its probably well off topic with the year but....)

The steel bikes were/are great. I'd love a modern 853 Bizango like that Rob 8) Seem pretty hard to get hold of though

Re:

Yeah it's a pity they dropped the steel ones, the bike was being held back with the Magura forks (could'nt get them serviced) then the Rock Shox's transformed it  Even the finish on the frame (pearlescent white, well lush) is pretty tough. And remember Joe Murray had a hand in designing these frames

Re:

Erm.....

Dare I say, my '96 Bizango frame is for sale in the relevant section....have discussed it with Datmony but unfortunately he is in the states and I don't want to ship overseas after recent experiences

The catalogs aren't that specific for the '90s ones, I get the impression you could pretty much custom build one to your own spec??

Re:

Originally Voodo's were very good bikes. I believe the company was started by Joe Murray of Kona fame. The brand certainly has come down in the world since then.

I think that was the idea when they first started.

Re:

Oh yes, when Voodoo were first launched the frames were very nice, the steel and Ti were US built while the alloy sus frames were Taiwan built. Kona man Joe Murray was indeed the man behind it all.

I have an original Bizango and a NOS Zobop frame.

The Bizango is still my bike of choice to ride out of the others I own. I bought it as a replacement for my '93 Explosive..er......which I still have too!!

I guess they lost a goodly amount of cred when they went into Halfrods though, shame really as I think their designs have mostly been good.
