Do any of the forum members from London remember this bike shop Recycle cycles that used to be in Anerley S.E London?, It was in the Crystal Palace area? The shop just went kind of over night and I don't know why? it was a big shop that seemed to be doing very well it must of gone around 2001/2002. It had to be my most favourite of all bike shops I spent hours in there combing through the range of second hand Super V's and Manitou FS bikes with the odd Trimble and GT's etc, etc I first went there in 96 and it become like a second home.......So I was just wondering if anyone knows or remembers what I am talking about?

um hmm. Was next door to "the Fridge", whic was new stuff, and getting into distribution. They even started getting their own frames made in the far east. It was the start of the trials era, but also IMHO, the start of a bleak period in mountain biking, it was the beginning of M950, poor top swing mechs, the end of all the small botique CNC houses and the start of a period of mediocrity.
Maybe they spread too thin and had to close- I never knew why.

South Norwood, I remember it well. Still got a set of Campag' canti's, STX RC rear hub (which I received for some SPD's) plus couple of other bits. Regret swapping a nice, long early Syncros seatpost for something or other.

I'm sure Guy Andrews, bike mechanic in one of the mag's of the time, worked in there.

Yes I remember them too mostly from their adverts in MBUK. I bought my Bravado frameset from them back in 1997 when mail order required phoning them up.

Remember them very well as most of my top kit came from there. The Fridge and Recycle were both owned by Vince Cundle, he also owned 'Town and Country' who imported DeKerf, Black Spire, Chuck and other cool brands. The Fridge was the new stuff shop, Recycle the old - Recycle came first, with the Fridge being an outlet for the stuff he imported

He was a really cool guy but I can't imagine that he ever made much money out of it as margins are so low normally, without adding in the amount of part-ex' that he took in.

I bought my Fat Ti from him, a San Andy, a Funk, a Bonty and countless parts.

The last I knew he was working for a major bike distribution company and is a member here (although I don't know how active!)
