    Front Mech dual pull "thing"?

Iirc it takes a cable stop. There are a few front dérailleurs with a built in cable outer stop from this period and earlier - I thought it meant you could fit these dérailleurs to frames with gear controls on the bars but without f.mech stops on the frame. ... but when you think about it, it...

    Front Mech dual pull "thing"?

Is it a trek component then? I've seen a few on front derailleurs. The cable pinch bolt mounting could also be the fitting point for the (alternative) "top pull conversion" roller, so the derailleur mounting item could have been marketed by a small parts manufacturer as an alternative, then...

    Giant cadex m900

I think it's ok to do something i don't know how to, but i would get advice and check before using it, (or photographing it for sale). The pads as fitted will to through the tyre in no time, and could cause a crash. XTR is literally top end - so if the owner doesn't know how to set it up...

Have you ever tried modern groupsets outside of the big three? (Shimano, Campag, SRAM)

I used mavic mektronic for a few years on my early 90s litespeed, riding chepstow to Bristol. Brakes are good. Never found the chainset. Rumour has it it never went into full production. Fantastic rear shifting, although iirc 27 max rear. Front mech operated by a crude lever on the lh brake -...

    Higgins , pricey but nicey

Aha - 1966 end of play, so it must be amongst their last, but ahead of the crowd with frame fittings. Mid 60s suits the lugs👍

    Higgins , pricey but nicey

The frame looks 70s to me, the style of mudguard eyes, the cable stops, derailleur hanger. The lugs are quite old fashioned though🤔 I'm sure a marque Enthusiast could date it especially with the frame number Looks a bit like the fork is pushed back, but sometimes the camera angle does that.
