10 speed cranks on 8 speed..

I guess the same principle applies regardless of whether it's Campag or Shimano. I was using an 8 speed chain which is just a bit wider than 10 speed so that's probably why the chain rub was happening. I have used an 11 speed chain on 10 speed chainrings and not had any issues.

    (Yet another) Ellis Briggs.

Very nice! Looks similar to one I have, which EB dated to 1973 when I gave them the serial number. Mine is branded Favori and they had the name of the person who ordered it on file and that was the person I bought it from. It was also a few years ago now so I'm surprised they couldn't help you...

10 speed cranks on 8 speed..

If the 8 speed chainset has the hidden 5th arm like the 10 speed one does then it will be okay. I used to run a 10 speed chainset with my 8 speed setup and the only slight issue I had was the chain rubbing on the outer ring when using the inner ring and the second to smallest sprocket on the...

Improperly formed URL - try Norfolkpedantry.co.uk Yorkshirepedantry.co.uk Interestingly, if you enter the properly formed URL into the Bing search engine, the top result is the website for the Norfolk Constabulary.

    DeRosa grail bike

I think it means this is the one, long dreamed of, long searched for, the holy grail of De Rosas as far as the OP is concerned.

Wanted 34t chainring for Campagnolo 10 speed chorus chainest

I am 99.9% certain I have one of those along with a matching 50t outer in the loft. They came off a Veloce chainset but the rings look nicer than the stamped ones Veloce usually have. I will have a look when I get home and get some photos up if so.

    Tony Doyle passed away RIP

Top rider and a really nice bloke. He was guest speaker at one of our club dinners back in the day and was the best we ever had. Very relaxed and entertaining.

Classic Bike Show Leeds 13 May

I'll see if I can make it to the show but judging from the gallery on the Bygone Bykes website my bikes are all at least 60 years too young!!!

For Sale Raleigh 653 forks - bare metal

Hi, I have some forks for sale that originally came off a Raleigh 653 Race frame (catalogue number 8901). They were white and pink originally. I ran them on one of my bikes for a couple of years then stripped the paint off with a view to getting them sprayed to match the frame. In the meantime...

Can you get a Bike on a Motorcycle..?

I remember somebody once arriving at a time trial on a Vespa-style scooter with his bike somehow attached to it. It was a long time ago so no idea how he did it but I seem to recall it was transverse, maybe with the wheels removed.

Andy Thompson 1978 lo pro pursuit track bike info

As it's a track bike (no brake drillings) perhaps they went for stiffness over light weight?

    What model Daccordi?

That was definitely the case in 1986/87 (can't remember now which year it was!) when I bought my frame. You specified the size, colour, amount of chrome, internal or external rear brake cable and what tubing you wanted. As a lightweight rider on a 54cm frame I went with SL but could have had SLX...
