A new toy

not sure the seatpost is the issue, I think the saddle being the size of a small country isn't helping. :) have you considered shimmed pivotal post?
The oversize seats were underrated😉. I still have one on my 2001 huck/downhill bike.

Not something I had thought about, don't know much about 3d printed plastic, would it be hard enough?
PETG with a decent in fill percentage might be. I've got a frame that runs a shim in the loft, let me have a play and I'll get back to you.

Currently looking for some good condition shiver dc 2002-2004 model (silver) with a minimum steerer length of 190mm or maybe 2001-2002 monster t's to lower the front end slightly

The Mrs has gone away visiting family for the weekend so it seems I have a bit of free time, so what better to spend it on than trying to get the toy finished so I can finally get out on it.
starting with the biggest change
I managed to find a nice set of shivers that had been refurbished with new top caps knobs bolts etc lowering the front end by about an inch and half, unfortunately not in silver but am planning on wrapping them in black vinyl anyway and having the decals made up in white to stick with the monochrome colourway I'm going for. managed to find a nice stem That fit so I didn't have to go with the ugly Marzocchi one and found some nice headset spacers that matched the c**k ring seat clamp.

will add more pictures as the day/weekend goes

Few more bits done before I cook some lunch.
Was originally planning to use some early 2000s m4 2 piece brakes but always found them a little light on power for 1 finger braking so went with some shiny silver new hopes on 205mm black floating rotors( went for 205 because it will allow me to swap between 26 and 24 inch wheels off another bike) fitted some reconditioned crank bros 50/50 pedals, a nos 770 rear mech and managed to find an elusive 30.4 seat pole to mount the universally loved setlas sofa saddle too IMG_20240525_130432.jpg IMG_20240525_132311.jpg IMG_20240525_132220.jpg IMG_20240525_132246.jpg now time for lunch
