Is it still a Ritchey Commando or Not...

Hello all,

I was lucky enough to pu this fb Ritchey recently and thought I'd pose the above question.

Original owner sold it to me. He raced this in Eastern Canada back in the day and had the frame repainted at some point by Marinoni. they did a great job and he had the rear triangle chromed too.

I bought it with a Tange big fork on it but he also supplied me with the original fork. It had been repainted first in black then in lime green. what you see in pics is stripper and elbow grease to bring back the original paint job.

notice the braze ons on the frame, for a portage strap.

Nice solid 19in fb Ritchey that will get a nice build, but is a Commando still a Commando after repaint...

should have two water bottle mounts on the down tube and rack mount on the fork which you don't have the main triangle has the strap eyelets so perhaps the fork came later never seen that camo colour before although I do like. Also the non slotted cable stops say 85

thanks for the input. yeah paint is a little different. I dig it too. Owner says he bought frame/fork together and added big fork down the road. cable stops are slotted. pics don't show it I guess. sn appears to be 191 which puts it 85/86

is just the rear end plated? interesting

looks likes just rear triangle dipped. appears to be both sides by looking at dropouts. but just the one stay showing chrome.

That is truly beautiful ! I quite like the paint as it stands now. Good job on the fork revert too !
Looks like a high class commando with the chrome accents How does it ride ?
