It's pretty, but I think given your risk, you might be better waiting, and paying a little more if necessary, for something at 130.

The chrome stays imply a quality that might not want too much bending, and rule out brazing.

There's not a shortage of nice frames like this, and at £250 you could buy almost anything.

And of course hunting down the perfect frame is a lot of fun so keep at it

Not what I wanted to hear but I am listening and you might be right…so 7.5mm is perhaps too much in the context of this frame…The stays aren’t pencil thin or rusty…more photos supplied to show that.

It just depends on what risk you are happy with and what extra spend might be necessary.
That's your choice.

All true but sometimes??? I will give this a lot of thought and won’t rush into anything.

Think about it.
It is not just the chainstays, its the seat stays that you need to bend as well.
Every time you look at the bike you will, know and , notice that the seat stays bend outwards.
Also the bend on the chainstays will be concentrated / local to the chainstay bridge.
This is where a crack would form in a few years/ miles time.

Funnily enough cheap frames take more bending abuse than nice ones - you can feel how soft the steel is.
Quality frames are tight and stiff, and to set them you have to overcome this springiness. It's a bit horrible.

If you brought this in to us to fit a 130 hub, I'd say you'd bought the wrong frame

I have long fancied a Roberts and this my size at a price I can afford ...I was hoping it would be a frame with a 126mm gap not 122.5mm gap.

I assume I would be ok with a 126mm gap?

I was aiming at returning to time trialling locally...so single speed won't be much use.
