I use G101 or equivalent multi purpose cleaner. It works for most stuff just by changing the concentration. I buy in 5 litres and dilute in a spray bottle, using warm water seems to help.

I’ve used it on everything from post ride clean of bike at about 20% concentration to degreasing cogs etc using it neat. It’s also good for car cleaning inside and out again if you vary the concentration. Lemon smelling and water soluble.

Looks handy stuff and nice being water soluble and lemony fresh!

I’m lucky enough to have a parts cleaner at my work which takes care of the larger items. After that 10-15 mins in the ultrasonic cleaner finishes them off. I just need to be careful not to put anything with a decal on it in the ultrasonic. It doesn’t just take dirt off! . For the really small items, it’s a tub with a small brush and depending on what I’m cleaning? Petrol or detergent. Once clean I drop the smaller parts in a bag and then the ultrasonic cleaner. After all that it’s just a polish and lube, good to go

Anyone used paraffin for cleaning parts?

I use to use it for my motorbike chain, worked well

A few years ago I only had room for either a sand blasting cabinet or a parts washer, I went with the blast cabinet. Old gerry tin above is what I use for cleaning most bike components. Leave the spout on and you can pour your solvent back into a tin for future use.

I like the electric toothbrush idea
