Gripshift models

Can someone bring me up to speed with the earliest version of the Gripshift? Looking info on the one with the spongy grips.

The name should be CX-DT225 and they were originally purposed for road bikes for the ends of drop bars and on tri bars. But then if I am correct people started using them in their flat bars and then I just sort of caught on. These types are very rare though, it’s hard to find a set with the tape not completely mangled

I have a NOS boxed set and a spare set of the original grip wraps with the pink writing, aside from that Hairball rocked them bitd I know absolutely nothing.
