My Holdsworth special 1971......

So I’ve bought a frame blindly hoping it’s a hidde gem lol any ideas
I thought might be an Ellis Briggs or holdsworth but I’m new to this it might be a Tesco special
It has matching 4 digit number on forks and frame so leaning towards Ellis Briggs maybe....Campagnolo rear drop outs...
Any help would be great so I can get started

Ok so Ellis Briggs rang me back it’s a 1951 Ellis Briggs superb should be in poly gold and not rover nightfire red
Now do I do a full restoration or a resto mod with Ellis livery but with modern Campagnolo and use it as intended....

It looks quite smart as it is. Maybe try lining the lugs before you start stripping? Whatever you do, it'll build up into a very nice bike I'm sure!

The guy was well informative told me colours pinstiping twin Olympic bands etc

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I will chime in but that frame looks way more modern than 1951. I'd guess at more like late 70's

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I will chime in but that frame looks way more modern than 1951. I'd guess at more like late 70's

Agree as the fork rake is definitely not the 1950’s style more in late 70’s early 80’s heading towards Time Trial frame styles of forks.....

So no body could of drilled and tapped 2 holes at a later date....?listen I’m going to go with the experts I rang and spoke to an employee at the shop who had all the records and looking at my email pics confirmed 1951,they themselves do alterations that you want all day long including Brazing of cable eyes,bottle holder holes altering so it can take modern group sets etc etc so I’m sure it’s not beyond somebody to drill 2 little holes....

I best ring Ellis Briggs and tell them there records are wrong and the fact he was looking at the same pics above on the email on his screen in front of him at the time he obviously DOSENT know what he’s talking about.....
