I'm constantly on the look out around the cosmetics shops - when the assistants ask if I need any help and I explain, they are not at all surprised and comment on how many men are looking for a touch up!
For those owning a Raleigh Road Ace circa.1987, that is the frame which is dark blue and Polar Blue the nearest I have found so far to a match with the dark blue is RAL 5017 Traffic Blue. I found an enamel touch up paint with this RAL code on eBay this week. Still working on the Polar Blue match though...it may require a bit of mixing?
Hello Johan
There is a bicycle shop in West Wickham Kent called Young's that was once a Raleigh dealer and now specialises in Raleigh Chopper restorations so try them, I'm sure they could help?
yup, raleigh colours are a pain in butt. ive been looking for the pain code, for an 87 blue/grey metalic maveric and the dark grren, almost black 1961 superbe sports tourist
To add to the listings, I found yesterday the RALPAR Accessories touch-up paint enamel provided with my 1989 (purchased new) in UK Raleigh Eclipse 12. The Raleigh catalogue of the time describes the colour as Pearl White, but the touch up supplied is "RTU 053, WARM WHITE, Use 999 Primer". For the 3rd Eclipse 12 I own located in Germany, last summer I bought "RAL9010 Pure White" after using an RAL colour chart against the bike frame which is a good match. Pearl Whites on the RAL chart were too yellow.
2. My touch up appears to have a date code ("DL") on the silver coloured rim at the top of the 12.5ml can. Is it a date code? Can anyone cross reference it? I looked at the photos of the ebay purchase above but didn't see any similar markings.
3. What colour is 999 Primer?
4. Does anyone know who Raleighs paint supplier of the late 1980's was?
