Yesterday I decided to extend the Thames Path "loop" to where the River Darent (and just after that where the Cray meets the Darent) meets the Thames. I'm getting closer to the QEII bridge but need more time in the day to get that "loop" in.

Verderers at FOD? Looks a bit like it. Defo one of my fav trails in the UK.
No pic's from today. Mild 15 rising to 16 at 08:00 with a hint of mizzle in the air. Pretty dank in places.
Yesterday was a 30 mile round trip up onto the downs to Emmetts Garden (single speed all the way, 8 minutes slower there, 4 minutes slower back than on the road bike). I volunteer there, usually every 4-5 weeks but I haven't been there since February thanks to lockdown then work being a total arse. I spent the day with the team strimming, pruning and weeding; the usual trio of graft
It's a fantastic spot right next to Ide Hill.
Hints that autumn is coming with the Acer looking ace.

Awesome. Glad to see they've fixed up the final run-in. That was getting proper janky!

What a beautiful day. Just got back in from sitting in the garden, lovely warm day.
My back was feeling ok after the ride the other day so went out for another easy ride. It was quite a bit warmer than it looked, a pleasant surprise and it made for a nice ride. The breeze was warm, though still appreciated, and the sun persuaded me to stop now and again to soak in its rays

Found another route that gives me 2 1/2 miles more offroad at the cost of an extra 1/2 mile in total.
Nature is reclaiming a couple of stretches of the Harcamlow Way, my legs are full of histamine from some vicious nettles.
43.5 miles.

The late afternoon/early evening blasts have been great. Before lockdown, this was my commuting home-time slot on the road bike. Now work from home permanently, I was finding even with the morning ride and walking Cooper in the evening, I still needed another leg pump. So here's a shot from yesterday at 17:30, a nice toasty 21 degrees. The local running clubs call this Heartbreak hill. It's nothing crazy but does get the lungs working. I call it Reddix hill after the author of this and the old thread. I always end up having a chat with his energy going up it.
Fast forward to this morning, a surprisingly chilly 9 degrees rising to a scorching 12 by 08:00. Long sleeve weather. The mist is returning, not seen since the spring so the season change is well underway.
But summer is still holding on where it can
