I'd look at the spring adjusters on each arm too to pull them closer to the wheel alongside the washers on the pads.

I did try fitting in torx keys but it was the same as Allen key, too much movement or wouldn't fit. Didn't want to resort to tapping one in until I've exhausted other less invasive options.

I think the chainrings are replaceable, just strange design like one of the stx versions where all rings held by one set of bolts. Could be wrong.
